Eid Al Fitr 2016

In the UAE, Ramadan is expected to end on the evening of 5 July and the Eid Al Fitr holiday to begin on Wednesday 6 July. So far we know of these holidays:

UAE - government closed from Sunday 3 July to Thursday 7 July, reopening Sunday 10 July
Pakistan - government closed from Wednesday 6 July to Friday 8 July, reopening Monday 11 July
Saudi Arabia - government closed from Friday 1 July to Saturday 9 July, reopening Sunday 10 July
Turkey - government closed from Monday 4 July to Friday 8 July, reopening Monday 11 July

Eid Al Fitr - Saudi Arabia

The new moon is likely to be visible in Saudi Arabia on the evening of Friday 17 July 2015. 

News is beginning to reach this part of the Empty Quarter that the government in Saudi Arabia will close from 10 July 2015, so the last working day before Eid Al Fitr will be Thursday 9 July 2015, and reopen on Wednesday 22 July 2015.

Egypt - the Patent and the Trade Mark offices will be closed from Monday 28 July to Wednesday 20 July 2014.

GCC - the GCC Patent office, based in Saudi Arabia, will be closed from 22 July to Saturday 2 August, reopening on Sunday 3 August 2014.

Saudi Arabia - the Patent and Trade Mark offices will be closed from 22 July to Saturday 2 August, reopening on Sunday 3 August 2014.

United Arab Emirates - the Patent and Trade Mark offices will be closed from 25 July to Saturday 2 August, reopening on Sunday 3 August 2014.

Eid Al Fitr 2013

United Arab Emirates
Reports in Gulf News and The National that Federal government offices will be closed from Wednesday 7 August 2013, corresponding to Ramadan 29, and will reopen on the fourth day of the month of Shawal. If Eid Al Fitr begins on Thursday 8 August then 4 Shawal is Sunday 11 August. If Eid Al Fitr begins on Friday 9 August then 4 Shawal is Monday 12 August. A report in Gulf News that the UAE Ministry of Labour has announced that the Eid Al-Fitr holiday for the private sector will begin on the first and second days of Shawal and the private sector will resume work on the 3 Shawwal.  Shawwal will begin on either 8 or 9 August.


Saudi Arabia
News from good friends Kadasa & Partners that the last working day for the government is Thursday 1 August 2013 (bearing in mind the recent change in weekend in Saudi Arabia) and that they will re-open on Tuesday 13 August 2013.

Egypt
News from good friends, Ibrachy & Dermarker that the last working day for the government is Wednesday 7 August 2013. The Egyptian Trade Mark Office will reopen on Monday 12 August 2013.
